The legend of Dragon Beard Candy was first notably practiced during the Chinese Han Dynasty (206 B.C. to 220 A.D.). This handmade traditional sugary art was used as a performance to entertain the Emperor, but it has since been handed down to Taiwan, Korea, Singapore and now the United States.

Derek Tam was taught this specialized craft by his father, Shing Tam, when he was very young. Shing Tam is a second-generation candy maker from Hong Kong. After working in Silicon Valley for several years, Derek felt the calling to carry on the family business. He quit his job, and he renovated a small storefront to put up a royal show on Grant Avenue in Chinatown. It is so enjoyable and soothing to watch how a thick ring malt syrup is pulled into thousands of silky white strands.

The dessert is extremely delicious and melts in your mouth, and they come in a variety of flavors! It is also preservative free.

Natural ingredients: toasted peanuts, sesame seeds and coconut (Please ask a server if you have any concerns).
