Clarion Performing Arts Center

Clarion Performing Arts Center provides education and live performance opportunities by fusing music, poetry, theater and visual arts as one organic artistic experience for individuals and communities.

Located in the heart of San Francisco Chinatown, Clarion was known for its vast collection of musical instruments from around the world. In 2016 the retail space was converted into a cozy theater that seats sixty. The basement has eight piano studios. Over one hundred and thirty students come for private music lessons on a regular basis. Clarion hosts an international music examination organization twice a year; and it is the home of SF City Theatre Company and Teatro Latino. The Grant Ave Follies–Chinatown’s most talked about senior dance troupe–performs a murder mystery show here annually.

Another regular event at Clarion is the music open mic and talent showcase on every second Thursday of the month. It is the ultimate Chinese-American experience in culture and entertainment. Live music, poetry, dance, and sometimes even magic acts are performed. Admission is free.
